Scratch My Belly: We Continue our Pit bull Awareness series with dear Layla. Layla is a 3 year old pit bull terrier mix that came to PAWS from local animal control. She had clearly been used for breeding previously. Her family was aware she was there, but sadly never came to retrieve her. Because she is such a sweetheart and so great with people and other dogs, she was chosen to represent a local animal control facility for a radio station appearance, as well as the opening of a local dog park. When we met Layla, we knew we would be proud to also have her as a PAWS' ambassador. Mom, Courtney, and Dad, Dayon, did not focus on Layla's breed. They just wanted a good dog. Layla clearly fit that bill, and Layla wasn't at PAWS for long before she headed home. Her parents write: She is our little love! She has been coming out of her shell and making our house her home. She loves to go on walks in the neighborhood and has even made friends with the goldendoodle across the street. She loves her big sister Olive, and is always giving kisses. And belly rubs are her favorite, so she gets them a lot. We learned this week that she doesn't much like the cold weather! She takes the blanket from our futon and wraps herself up in it! And she loves to lay on the fireplace hearth since Dad has started making fires. She is a perfect addition to our family and we are so happy to have been able to adopt her.
